Fraser Island - The Largest Sand Island In The World

The sand that has been accumulated for 750,000 years on the southern coast of Queensland, created one of the most beautiful islands in Australia named Fraser Island. With its width of about 24 km (15 mi) and its length of about 120 km (75 mi), Fraser Island is considered the world’s largest sand island (with an area of 184 000 hectares).
But Fraser Island is not only known for the huge amount of sand, but also for its extraordinary beauties. About 400,000 people visit Fraser Island every year to see the island’swoodland of eucalyptus, rainforests, mangrove forests, freshwater lakes (Fraser Island has more than 100 freshwater lakes). One of the island’s biggest attractions are pure Dingos, some of the last remaining in Eastern Australia.
For those who have never seen Fraser Island, here are the photos below. Enjoy watching!

Top 5 Things To Do In Detroit, Michigan

5.  Motown Museum

The music most associated with Detroit is probably soul.  And the most famous record company in Detroit is Motown Record Corporation.  The name “Motown” is a shortening of one of Detroit’s nicknames, “Motor Town”.  Berry Gordy Jr. founded Motown in 1960.  The innovative music that they released came to be known as the Motown Sound, a distinctive variant of soul music.  Esther Gordy Edwards founded the Motown Historical Museum in 1985.  The museum catalogues the history of the record company, from the formation to the present day.

4.  The Detroit Symphony Orchestra
The Detroit symphony orchestra, which performs at the Detroit Opera house, was originally formed in 1887.  However, it ceased operations in 1910.  A few years later, ten young Detroit society women each contributed $100, and pledged to find 100 additional subscribers to donate $10, to support the symphony.  They worked swiftly, and where able to find a conductor and began holding concerts again in early 1914.  They became so popular, it was decided the orchestra needed their own building.  Orchestra Hall, which was designed by noted architect C. Howard Crane, was opened in 1919.  They perform a variety of musical forms today, including classical and jazz.

3.  Ford Field
In 2002, the Detroit Lions began playing in a brand new, $500 million stadium.  It’s almost 2 million square feet, and seats 65,000 people.  Its unique design incorporates the old Hudson warehouse, which has been around since the 1920’s.  In the first year of operation, approximately 1.5 million people visited the stadium.  In addition to hosting the Lions, there are also other sporting events, concerts, banquets, tradeshows, business meetings, and conventions.  As a special extra bit of knowledge, there are 92 total public restrooms.
Address- 2000 Brush Street Detroit, MI 48226

2.  Greektown

Greektown Historic District was ironically first settled in the 1830’s by German immigrants.  Most of them left in the early 20th century, and new Greek immigrants moved into the area.  So, not that ironic after all.  It is a primarily commercial district today, dominated mainly by Greek restaurants, stores, and coffeehouses.  Certain buildings on Monroe Street are themed to resemble the Parthenon, Pegasus, and other forms of Greek architecture.  The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Road Trip | Go to see 'Van Gogh'

The 1890 painting “Undergrowth with Two Figures” by Vincent Van Gogh. Courtesy Cincinnati Art Museum. / Cincinnati Art Museum/Cincinnati Art Museum

The Cincinnati Art Museum is giving visitors the chance to check out how its 1890 Van Gogh painting “Undergrowth with Two Figures” is being restored by having its chief conservator, Per Knutas, carry out his detailed work in public view through October.
One of Vincent van Gogh's last masterpieces, the painting had wax applied to it in the 1970s to protect the canvas and secure the paint. But Knutas said some of the wax seeped to the front surface. To remove it and reveal original vibrant colors and textures of the work, Knutas is using a powerful microscope connected to a 42-inch flat screen monitor, as well as special tools and solvents.
Knutas is working on the painting from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and the first and last Saturdays of the month through the summer. For more information, call (513) 639-2995 or visit www.cincinnatiartmuseum.org.

Stunishing Rocky Attractions Of Norway

Maybe you will feel funny just by looking at these pictures, especially if you’re afraid of heights. These are some really crazy heights, I don’t even understand how people dare to walk on the edges. What you see is some rock formations if Norway that are huge tourist attractions; Trolltunga, Kjeragbolten and Preikestolen. You will experience some unforgettable views when reaching the top of each destination, that’s for sure.

Preikestolen

The Preikestolen  is located above Lysefjorden. It’s a giant cliff that has a drop of 604 meters straight down. It takes about 3 hours of hiking and some areas are really steep.
The walk to Preikestolen is very steep in places. The path starts at the Preikestolhytta, at an elevation of approximately 270 metres (886 feet) above sea level, and climbs to 604 metres (1982 feet). The hike takes 1-3 hours depending on experience and fitness level.
Even though the elevation differential is only 334 metres (1096 feet) and the walk is not particularly long (3.8 km each way), the total elevation gain and loss over the course of the hike is more than one might initially expect, as the path climbs and descends various ridges.
The walk is not recommended in winter and spring when there is snow and ice and the track may be slippery. Best season to hike the trail is from April to October. Sturdy shoes and rain gear are recommended for the hike.

Kjeragbolten

Kjeragbolten is a huge rock that is stuck between two hill sides. A lot of tourist dare to stand on it, but if something happens and it falls down…well, we wouldn’t like that to happen because it’s a drop of 984 meters. For a lot of base jumpers the Kjeragbolten is a popular diving place
Kjerag is also a popular climbing destination, with many difficult routes going up its steep faces.
Kjerag is also a popular climbing destination, wiIt is possible to walk onto the rock without any equipment, but there is a direct 1000 m drop below down to Lysefjorden, so to walk onto it requires good nerves and steady feet. The name means “Kjerag Boulder” or “Kjerag Bolt”.th many difficult routes going up its steep faces.
The name is possibly a compound of kje ‘kid’ and ragg ‘goat’s hair, shag’. The rough surface of the mountainside have then been compared with the shaggy hair of a kid goat.

Trolltunga

Trolltunga is the one where the rock looks like a tongue that’s sticking out in the air, hence the name which means troll’s tongue. It’s located above Skjeggedal in Odda.
There are both stairs and a path that guide visitors the first 950 meters, and from there marked hiking trails lead visitors the rest of the way.
Cabins in the area are owned by the Norwegian Trekking Association, where it is possible to spend the night.
The area opens up to the rest of Hardangervidda, and can be a starting point for a longer hike to, for example, HÃ¥rteigen.
All of the three places are worth visiting. Another beautiful location in Norway is Lofoten, a paradise for fishermen.
